Tank Rack

by on Sep.17, 2010, under Tank Rack

What you will need:
1) 2 pool noodles Note: 2 pool noodles will make a tank rack big enough for 3 tanks.
2) 20ft of yellow nylon rope
3) Drill with drill bit (the aproximate size of the rope)
4) Saw
5) Scissors

Getting started:
1) Cut your pool noodles into 4 11.5″ pieces.
2) Into each cut piece of pool noodle, drill 2 holes approximately 5″ from each end.

3) Take your nylon rope and a piece of 11.5″ pool noodle and feed the rope through the hole. If you are kneeling and noodle is in front of you, you should start feeding the rope through the hole from right to left. Then take the same end and feed it over top and back into the right hole.

4) Take another piece of 11.5″ pool noodle and place it next to the first one. I found the best way to measure the distance between noodles is to lay a tank down between them. Once you have measured the distance you want between the noodles, take the rope and feed it through the next top hole; this time going from left to right. Take the rope and pull it over the top of the noodle and feed it through the same hole; again going from left to right.

5) Repeat the process until all of the top holes are done.

6) Once you get to the last top hole on the top wrap the rope through the hole and cut it off.
7) Start the first bottom hole the same as you did for the top hole; start by feeding the end through the first bottom hole going from right to left, pull the rope over the top and feed it through the hole tucking it in.
8 ) Take the other end of the rope and feed it into the second pool noodle going from left to right.

9) Repeat the process until the rope is through all of the bottom holes.

Note: You can substitue the pool noodle with PCV pipe. I went with pool noodles as they are much cheaper.
